Tellaman reveals not hating being referred to SA’s Chris Brown nor being compared to the music star. While speaking to TshishaLIVE, he disclosed that he never saw himself in the music industry as he had a passion for soccer.
“Finding my love for singing was actually weird because my family are churchgoers so I was forced to go to church, that’s where my mom heard I could sing. Then she would make me sing all the time at home with my siblings. I wasn’t about it, I wanted to go play soccer or just be with my friends but she wouldn’t let up.”
“I started learning how to produce; it’s something that I taught myself before the music bug bit. I was making beats long before I knew I wanted to jump on them. It wasn’t serious when I started it was just for fun but I grew to love it and it lead to me realizing I could sing. I then fell in love with music, the rest is history.”
Speaking of his magic in every song, just like a touch of Chris Brown in every song makes such song a bomb, Tellaman has such magical touch in every song also.
“I think artists like Tshego (from Family Tree) and I stand out because of our ability to jump on a song and help to amplify it instead of it feeling like, ‘it could have been a nice hip-hop track but there’s too much singing.’ I think that is why Mayo pushed me into the spotlight because it was such a hip-hop track but my presence made it better.”
