Global Citizen Festival was a highly anticipated event for the past months in South Africa as they were expecting Beyonce, Jay C, Usher and many other international artists to grace the event with a mind blowing performance.
However, after the close of the event yesterday, we all expected a scream of joy rather it was screams of help and laments that scooped social media platforms.
The crowd who had the chance to share with peeps ongoing events at the FNB stadium described the saddening events ongoing at the stadium.
It was said that two people were stabbed, Phones were stolen, the police left the helpless crowd and there was no form of help, there was also a report of stampede.
Most people blamed the organizers of the Global Citizen Festival as the safety there was reportedly said to be very poor.
Tweeps lament on Twitter be like:
@GlblCtzn I’m really disappointed in your guys complete disregard for our safety after the concert , people were stabbed , robbed on gun point and hijacked right outside the stadium. You really let us down as a country ?#GlobaCitizenFestivalSA

#GlobaCitizenFestivalSA was amazing but the shit that went down afterwards was absolutely disgusting ! People lost phones, cars, wigs and they were being burned and stabbed !

What’s happening outside the #GlobaCitizenFestivalSA is horrific! It’s sad. That the actual citizens are endangered. I had to shout & fight my way from my phone being taken from my hand. There’s similar screams everywhere where we’re getting Ubers outside. @GlblCtzn

Wow counted 17 muggings at the Sasol at FNB. Plus 2 stabbings and a smash and grab. #GlobaCitizenFestivalSA

I have never felt unsafe and scared like i did after the concert. The festival could have organized the transport and traffic situation way better. All the cops said was that we should keep phones away as they have no energy to chase criminals #GlobaCitizenFestivalSA

Home safe. Beyoncé is worth all the hype. Jay Z is officially uncancelled. The organizers of #GlobaCitizenFestivalSA should be tried in a court of law for putting us all in danger in various ways while trying to access the stadium as well as trying to leave the stadium.

I’ll write a proper thread about this when I’m not as exhausted & not as angry so I can actually think clearly but My. God. It was a mess. I still don’t know if some of my friends made it home #GlobaCitizenFestivalSA
