Mi Casa lead singer J’Something seeks fans help for those left devastated by the Cyclone Idai that happened in Mozambique and parts of Zimbabwe.

J’Something who has strong roots in Mozambique narrated in a lengthy note shared on Instagram on helping the victim of the incident.

“I don’t quite have the words but let me try. Last night we had a beautiful show in Maputo, Moçambique at #MomentsofJazz. I was so emotional arriving in this country because my dad lived here and worked here for many years, my grandmother was born here and my great grandfather is actually buried here and my family lived in Beira for a long time.

“Half of my family is Mozambican so when I heard and saw the images and videos of what Cyclone Idai did my heart shattered in pieces. I knew I needed to do something.”

J also revealed that Mi Casa also launched a crowd funding initiative and hope to raise at least R500,000 for victims.

“I wanna encourage all of you that follow me (friends/family/artists/companies) to get involved with us to try and raise R500, 000 to donate to Gift of the Givers. No Gift is too small.”

Africa has been my bands focus for the last 5 years. We’ve performed in the over 30 African countries, shared in great meals with our fellow brothers and sisters, had the BEST shows of my life on this continent, hold the fondest memories and build so many phenomenal friendships! Moçambique/Zimbabwe/Malawi (all of which I have performed with @micasamusic on countless occasions) were hit by a devastating cyclone, #CycloneIdai and we have started a crowd funding platform where our ambition is to raise R500 000 which will be donated to Gift of the Givers (an African NPO doing some amazing work in these affected areas) … I want to urge you to get involved even if it’s R10 … it all goes a long way! I specially want to encourage all the artists that follow me that have fans all over this beautiful continent of ours to head to the link in my bio! Our brothers and sisters need us! We can do this! #Beira #Moçambique #TeamMiCasa #Africa
