South African DJ, Black Coffee joins some of SA celebs who’s been in trouble with SA Revenue Service (Sars).
It’s been reported that the acclaimed international star owes Sars R40 million income tax, and the case has been taken to court.
According to City Press, Black Coffee negotiated to pay less, R8 million, which will see him selling off his properties to get the debts paid.
Maphumulo’s statement read: “Considering the nature of his business, it is impossible to predict or state his average monthly income due to the fact that it fluctuates substantially as a result of not only market forces, but also the seasonality of the industry.”
Finance lawyer and chairperson and co-founder of Tshisevhe Gwina Ratshimbilani Incorporate, Peter Tshisevhe, told City Press that celebrities didn’t always intend to defraud Sars.
“They are not exposed to the business side of the entertainment business and they always fail to manage their finances,” says Lawyer Peter Tshisevhe.
Aside issues with the Sars, he’s marriage with Enhle Mbali is over and they’ve been working on dissolving it legally. Though, it was reported that the fashion designer needs to be settled financially by the DJ.
