#SchoolMustShutdown is trending on twitter due to government’s decision to continue school activities admist Covid-19 crises.
A lot of people seems to be under pressure as there is a huge spike in the infection, as well as death causalities among the educational system.
More than 3,000 teachers and 1,000 students have been infected with the deadly disease since the reopening schools for two age groups.
However, the purpose of this trend is for the president Cyril Ramaphosa to shut down schools with immediate effect for the safety of school staffs and learners during the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a teacher I love my learners. Every day they ask me “Sir is #COVID19 ever going to end or should we just live like it is our last day?” I hide my sad facial expression under the mask and just say everything is going to be okay. #SchoolsMustShutdown.

It is our duty to protect our children and while we’re calling for schools to close we should make sure our kids stay at home and not room the streets. It should also be prohibited for a kid to go to a mall or board a public transport. #SchoolsMustShutdown pic.twitter.com/xwvNeFWOBq

We need to tackle this virus head on but can’t do it at the expense of our children. They as leaders should lead by example & return to work. Why are they hiding. Stop using our children as bait.#SchoolsMustShutdown pic.twitter.com/6tEn0AsPzJ
