Gauteng Education MEC – Panyaza Lesufi has expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the deceased as well as the school community
The Gauteng Education Department is mourning the deaths of two pupils and an educator in Hammanskraal, Pretoria.
In the most recent incident, Sefeshi Anna Ramatsetse, a 54-year old teacher from Rethabile Primary School in Klipdrift, passed away on Thursday, 23 July 2020 while awaiting kidney transplant.
When in another incident, a Grade 1 learner from Ramotse Primary School passed away on Wednesday, 15 July 2020. It is alleged that he was involved in a fatal car accident, in which he died on the scene.
LEARNER DRINKS POSION
On the same day in Marokolong, Mothobi Nkhudiseng, a Grade 9 learner at Boitshepo Secondary School died after drinking poison.
“The Gauteng Education MEC Mr Panyaza Lesufi is saddened to report about the death of a Grade 1 learner from Ramotse Primary School in Hammanskraal”, the department said in a statement on Thursday, 22 July 2020.
“It is painful to further information about the passing of an educator from Rethabile Primary School in Klipdrift, Hammanskraal.
“Ms Sefeshi Anna Ramatsetse (54) passed away this morning, 17 July 2020. She had allegedly been hospitalized for 2 months, and died while awaiting a kidney transplant”, spokesperson Steve Mabona said.
“Sadly, we also report about the untimely death of Mothobi Nkhudiseng, a Grade 8 learner at Boitshepo Secondary School in Marokolong, Hammanskraal.”
Mothobi was allegedly embroiled in a verbal altercation with a family member which led her to drink a poison and died instantly on Wednesday, 15 July 2020.
“Tshegetse Chauke (6) lost his life on Wednesday, 15 July 2020. It is alleged that he was involved in a fatal car accident, in which he died on the scene.”
LESUFI SENDS HIS CONDOLENCES
Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC has expressed his condolences to the families of his loved ones.
MEC Lesufi said:
“We wish to convey our deepest condolences to the families and school communities who have been severely affected by the deaths of their loved ones. Indeed, no words are enough to express the sorrow of losing a loved one. We hope that the families will find comfort in the knowledge that we too share their loss.”
In January 2020, 13-year old Parktown Boys’ High student, Enock Mpianzi drowned when a makeshift he and his fellow classmates had built, capsized during an orientation camp.
