R1000 bail for rape accused Cape Town musician

The 48-year old well-known local musician, who was accused of the sexual assault and rape of a 21-year old woman has been released on R1000 bail in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.

eNCA and African News Agency caused a brief delay in the court proceedings due to the application brought to film and take photographs during the proceedings.

However, the magistrate granted the application but with strict conditions, which includes the privacy of the identity of the accused.

The attorney representing the accused objected to eTV’s request on the basis that the accused has not yet pleaded and therefore cannot be named.

He has a bond, a car installment and school fees to settle. He also stated that he could only afford a bail amount of R1000.

As part of his bail conditions, the accused cannot be in Kuilsriver or have contact with any of the witnesses.
