A van possessing some undisclosed amount of cash was blown apart during a brazen heist at a 4-way stop at Letlhabile, near Brits, in the North West.
According to National police spokesperson, Col Brenda Muridili said the cash van was travelling to a shopping centre at around 8am on Monday.
The cash van was reportedly hit head-on by a bakkie.
Shortly after, some armed robbers who are believed to be gang members opened fire on the van and ordered the guards to leave the vehicle.
The armed gang came ready for the exercise. They used explosives to blow open the armoured vehicle and fled the scene immediately they were done.
No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
