Gauteng Premier has taken aim at officials in his health department.
David Makhura said he is embarrassed that Bandile Masuku, Health MEC has been implicated in a PPE tender corruption to the tune of R125 million.
Makhura also said that while allegations have not been proven, a broader investigation is needed to determine the extent of the corruption.
The CFO of Gauteng’s health department has resigned and Masuku has been placed on special leave.
“Yes, we are looking at our own officials, definitely. These companies would have not gotten the work if the rot is not in government.”
