Namibia has decided to shut down its schools

 


Namibia shuts down school a week after students were called to resume.

This was after the parents, teachers and students threatened to embark on a countrywide mass demonstration if the government do not close down schools.

The country’s President, Hage Geingob, made the announcement on Friday and said schools would close from Tuesday August 4.

According to the statement, all grades except learners in the final three years of high school are expected to stay at home.

According to statistics, Namibia recently started recording a daily increase in the number of case recorded.

The President’s decision to close down school was accepted by all.

The president also announced other measures to curb the spread.

He announced the reduction in the number of people who may attend a public gathering.

This has been reduced from 250 people to 100.

Public venues are also advised to not serve alcohol, but it can be consumed in the home.
