There is more to the Norma Gigaba story than what is currently in the public domain, according to the Hawks.
According to a report, it was said that former Cabinet Minister Malusi Gigaba had in May opened a case after he was tipped-off that an alleged hit on his life was in the pipeline.
On Friday, Malusi Gigaba’s wife was apprehended and held in a Pretoria jail cell.
The charges against her was assault and malicious damage to property.
The police wasn’t involved in the case, but the priority investigations unit got involved. In sequel to this, Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi said there was more to the story than what’s been reported.
Hangwani preferred not to elaborate.
Hangwani said in a statement:
“In this case, we were briefed or informed of a very serious matter which necessitated us to look into it and to investigate it as well.”
“It is not something very light, it is a very serious matter that we are dealing with. Unfortunately, we cannot get into those details. This is just one part of the investigations that we are dealing with.”
Norma Gigaba has been released on bail.
Victor Nkwashu, Norma’s attorney confirmed her release on Saturday night.
She is expected to appear in the Hatfield Magistrate court for a bail application on Monday.
