Beyonce’s “Black Is King” inspired by a South African

You might be wondering how American singer, Beyonce got to think of the huge creative visual for Black Is King which was recently released.


The film serves as a visual companion to the 2019 album The Lion King: The Gift, a tie-in album curated by Beyoncé for the 2019 remake of The Lion King.

It was revealed that the film was inspired by a South African.

Ms Tina has revealed that Beyoncé decided to make #BlackIsKing when she heard the story of Solomon Linda, the S. African composer of Lion Sleeps Tonight who received no credit from Disney. She decided to fix that injustice and show the beauty of Africa from the eyes of Africans.”

Aside the inspiration being from SA, the American star also featured amazing talents in SA, such as, Late Mary Twala, Moonchild Sanelly, Busiswa, John Kani, Nandi Madida and a few others.

The project was a dream come true for many who featured in it.
