Somizi appreciates Beyonce and Tina Knowles for honouring his mother

South Africa radio personality, Somizi Mhlongo has taken to his social media to appreciate all the support the music idol, Beyonce gave his mother before she passed away.


He also stated how grateful he is that Beyonce and her mother, Tina Knowles came together to offer condolences to his late mum, Mary Twala.

Mary Twala worked with Beyonce and not only that, she also played the role of Rafiki on Beyoncé’s Black Is King album.

She has also worked with a lot of productions in her career for over years.

Recall, the veteran actress died on 4th of July, 2020 in a hospital in Johannesburg after falling ill for several months and also going in and out of the hospital.

Tina who took to her social media, stated that she heard about Mary’s death through the post Beyonce made and said the late actress is a “wonderful legend”.

“It is very interesting that in the film the poetry says ‘the elders are tired’. May she rest in eternal peace,” Tina said.

Somizi was full with joy after seeing the post Tina and Beyonce made.

He then took to his social media to respond thanking the two for the love and respect they gave his mother all through her final months.

“Thank you Ms Tina Knowles and Beyoncé for the love and respect you gave my mom, even when she was alive during the filming,” he said.

He added that Mary’s swansong was an incredible one and he was so proud of her.

He also said he was proud of Ma Mary after seeing her blessing and lifting up Simba,

“I have all the rights to brag about the queen that is my mother. What a way to exit mother earth. 60-year career, nogal.”
