Things you don’t know about DJ Black Coffee



Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo whose stage name is DJ Black Coffee is one of the biggest DJ and record producer in South Africa.

He was born on March 11, 1976 in Durban, South Africa.

The star was married to actress and TV presenter Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa.

They had two children together and he has six children in total.

In July 2019, it was reported they had divorced.

The star made his name known ‘Black Coffee” by dropping his first album between 2005-2006.

DJ Black Coffee built his career gradually over nearly two decades and his album, “Black Coffee” was created using very basic music-making software.

He released another album titled “Have Another One” which he featured “Wathula Nje”.

However, in 2009, Black Coffee released his third album, ‘’Home Brewed’’, featuring Ringo Madlingozi, Zonke, Hugh Masekela, Zakes Bantwini and others.

Most of DJ Coffee’s fans do not know he was inducted in the Guinness Book of World Records when he DJed 60 hours non-stop at Maponya Mall in 2010 .

He also won two awards in the categories Best Urban Dance Album and Best Male Artist at the South African Music Awards 2010.

Also in 2012, Black Coffee featured different artists on the album “Africa Rising,” such as Bucie or the soulful musician Toshi Tikolo on the title “Buya”.

He was featured in numerous publications most especially in South Africa, he was featured in November 2013 in the Destiny Man edition of Destiny magazine.

Between 2018 till now, the star has actually achieved a lot.

In 2018, he released a single in collaboration with David Guetta titled “Drive” featuring Delilah Montagu.

It is featured on Guetta’s album 7.

End of 2018, he released a seven-track EP titled Music Is King.

In September 2019, Black Coffee released “LaLaLa” with American R&B singer Usher.

Black Coffee recently performed in Greece and reminded the world why he is still in demand even during a global pandemic.

He is still making good beats and his fans are still proud of him.
