DA’s mayoral candidate, Randal Williams has decided to present the fact that City of Tshwane administrators have overstayed their welcome.

Williams said the administrators had been in control for more than three months.

The metro, currently without a city manager, mayor or council was placed under Tshwane administration.

DA decided to take their argument back to to the Supreme Court of Appeal to order that the decision by the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria to overturn the dissolution of Tshwane metro council be immediately implemented.

DA wants the High court ruling which will dissolve the Tshwane administration to be implemented immediately and with urgency.

According to Williams, the metro was in a state of chaos and on the verge of collapse.

He said the city was in a financial crisis. It had a R3-billion surplus before the administrators took over but now, they do not have enough funds.

“As far as delivering services to people, its a mess.”

The DA also accused administrators in the capital of allegedly making appointments to politically fill vacancies.

The current City of Tshwane administrator, Mpho Nawa disagreed with DA’s view.

There were prior challenges which according to him, has been settled.

He said labour problems experienced by the metro were resolved and service delivery was back to normal.

“We’re struggling but I must say we have done alternatives to ensure services are provided.”

The DA believes that the administrators had overstayed their welcome and there is need for special intervention.

They have decided to head to the Supreme Court of Appeal next week to get an immediate order from the court.
