Level 2 lockdown: Dlamini-Zuma elucidates regulations on sale of alcohol

The restrictions on the sale of liquor will be lifted from Tuesday, under level two regulations.


The sale of liquor by licensed premises is permitted from 9am to 5pm, from Mondays to Thursdays.

However, prohibition on the sale of liquor is only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

These established have been permitted to operate with only a maximum of 50 patrons and observing health and hygiene protocols, including washing of hands, sanitizing, wearing of masks, and also a distance of 1.5 meters between patrons.

Nightclubs will, however, remain closed during this period.

The curfew between 10pm and 4am remains in place.
