South Africans would be informed about the new phase of the level 2 lockdown this afternoon
Cabinet members who serve in the National Coronavirus Command Council are set to provide details on the regulations relating to the Covid-19 level 2 restrictions on Monday afternoon.
According to the government the briefing will start at 2pm today.
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Saturday night that the country will move to another phase of the lockdown on Tuesday.
The move will ease the strict restrictions and allow the sale of alcohol and cigarettes and reopening of gyms.
Inter-provincial travels will be permitted and economic activities can go about their usual business with some light restrictions.
However, President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned that the country could go back to the hard lockdown if there is a spike in the number of cases.
He urged everyone to take safety precautions seriously.
“We now need to manage this risk and ensure the gains we have made thus far in containing the pandemic’s spread are not reversed. The greatest threat to the health of nation right now is complacency”, President Ramaphosa.
