Ekurhuleni emergency services reported on Friday that a body of a charred man was found hanging from a high-voltage electrical pylon.
The body was found on a high-voltage electrical pylon in Brakpan on the East Rand.
According to emergency services spokesperson, William Ntladi, the body was discovered at Withok agricultural holdings on Wednesday.
He said the “rigid charred body” was seen hanging up side down from one of the high voltage electrical cables which was about 25m away from the ground on a steel pylon.
Ntladi said he suspects that the man was trying to tamper with the cables before he got electrocuted because a hacksaw and a screwdriver were found on the ground directly underneath the body.
Ntladi said the emergency service officials had to use a specialised hydraulic platform vehicle to reach the body of the man.
“The operation had to be halted until the safety signal was given by electricians who had to isolate the power supply from the power lines.”
