Nine persons died from a fire incident that occurred in Kalahari on Friday
Investigations are still ongoing into the cause of the lodge that caught fire in Kalahari last week. The fire incident claimed the lives of nine persons from three different families.
Brig Mohale Ramatseba, Northern Cape police said the investigations are expected to end soon.
Ramatseba added that fire investigators and forensic anthropologists are still working on getting the DNA results, which are still outstanding.
“We still don’t know when the funerals will be. We are arranging them. The families are extremely sad, but they are strong,” said Jan Grobbelaar, pastor of the NG Kerk in Prince Alfred Hamlet on Friday.
The ninth person that succumbed to the fire incident was Frans Davin, he was just 36 years old. He sustained serious burns and got admitted to a hospital in the city of Cape Town.
He had three children – Frans (5) and Iza (3), who also died from the fire incident. But the mother – Wilmien and the baby of the family survived from injury.
The other 8 persons that died from the fire incident were from two other families.
