1,677 new COVID-19 infections recorded in South Africa

South Africa has recorded 1,677 new coronavirus infections and this drags the total amount of confirmed cases to 611,450.

In the past 24 hours, hundred more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 and this takes the death toll to 13,159.


However, there’s a positive side to the report – more than 516,494 patients have recovered so far.

As it stands, the recovery rate is now at 84%. Just yesterday, the recovery rate was sitting on 83%.

However, Zweli Mkhize, Health Minister said there has been a decline in COVID-19 testing.

The total number of COVID-19 tests that have been conducted so far is 3,564,065 with 10,640 new tests conducted since the recent report.
