Mystery as another body found in Mtwalume

The police  in KwaZulu-Natal have found another body in the Mtwalume area.

This is the sixth body discovered in Mtwalume since April 2020.


According to police spokesperson, Brig Jay Naicker on Saturday, passers-by who were on their way to work in the early hours of Saturday saw the unidentified body and alerted the police.

“The body was burnt beyond recognition, covered in plastic, at this stage we cannot say whether it is a male or female,” he said.

“Indications are that this person was killed elsewhere, the body was burnt and then dumped on the roadside. Police are investigating a case of murder”.

This discovery comes after the fifth body was found two weeks ago.

The mysterious dead bodies discovery began in April.

The police arrested two people in connection to the murder.

One of the suspect, a 41-year-old petrol attendant Mduduzi “Mafutha” Khomo confessed to killing those people whose bodies were dumped in Mtwalume fields.

He confessed to the murders of Akhona Gumede‚ 25‚ Nosipho Gumede‚ 16‚ Neliswe Dube‚ 22‚ Zama Chiliza‚ 38‚ and an unidentified woman in her 20s.

However, the police minister, Bheki Cele confirmed that he committed suicide while in police custody.
