A teenager who was arrested for the brutal murder of his parents appeared in court on Monday.
The teen from Pampierstad, in the Northern Cape killed his parents and dumped their bodies in a veld.
Police spokesperson, Lt-Col Dimakatso Mooi said the unnamed teen will appear in the Pampierstad magistrate’s court again on September 7.
The police earlier reported that he was 17-year-old but was later changed.
“The bodies of the couple, aged 67 and 57, were discovered on August 27 in the veld with open cut wounds and marks that suggested that they had been dragged with a vehicle to where they were found,” said Mooi.
“The suspect was arrested on the same day.”
“The case is remanded to September 7 for bail application.”
He is still in police custody pending his bail application.
A source close to the investigation disclosed that the slain couple were found dead in their pyjamas.
At the time of the arrest, Mooi explained that “the motive of the murder is unknown at this stage.”
“The police investigation continues”.
