on

Nehawu, healthcare workers union is threatening to hold a nationwide strike next week only if the government doesn’t attend to their needs for the protection of its workers.

Nehawu complained its members have been working daily with exposure to poor conditions and low-quality PPE.

Our members are caught between a rock and a hard place, when they complain they are dismissed and when they comply they die,” said Nehawu General Secretary, Zola Saphetha.

Yesterday, the union handed over a memorandum to the government which contained a list of fifteen demands.

We are demanding that government must comply fully with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, that Act is existing to protect our lives at the work place.”
