Mafikizolo star, Theo Kgosinkwe has decided to show his support on the reopening of the entertainment industry.
This is following after artists recently blocked off the N3 Highway near the Spaghetti Junction in Durban, demanding that lockdown regulations around concerts be amended in a protest.
They called for events to be opened with at least 70% attendance.
Theo stated that if the industry is not opened, many people can die of starvation while government tries to protect them from Covid-19.
Theo showed his support for the movement, posting its slogan and claiming “the entertainment industry is feeling the strain”.
Some were not in support of the movement as they felt they should just wait till everything get settled to avoid further spread.
A follower told Theo saying: “Your health is more important than anything else. Suffering of the industry is not going to help the people survive Covid-19, or aren’t you bothered? I do understand the industry is suffering kodwa impilo zabantu zi safe na.”
Replying to the follower, Theo claimed that both Covid-19 and hunger had the potential to kill.
He said: “Both can affect you mentally and lead to depression.”
Theo further said artists are human beings and they have to feed their family even those who are working with them.
He said that the fact other industries are opening and taking safety precautions, the entertainment industry can do the same also.
He said most industries are open and taking proper safety precautions, and the entertainment industry can do the same.
“We too can make sure precautions are taken and limit the number of people, like everyone else. Shebeens are open, clubs are open, taxis are at 100% capacity, so when artists raise their voice there is a problem?”
