Hawks respond to Norma Gigaba’s affidavit

on

Following the arrest of Norma Gigaba and her urgent application, the Hawks have responded with an answering affidavit.

Gigaba mentioned in a statement that her arrest by the Hawks was initiated to intimidate, bully, and to delete some specific information by gaining access to her devices.

However, the Hawks have denied those allegations and said the matter was handled by officers from Mpumalanga.

They mentioned in their statement that the arrest was done in connection to allegations filed against her by her husband – Malusi Gigaba for conspiracy to commit murder.

The Hawks have rejected claims by Gigaba in which she said she was intimidated into handing over her devices with the access pins to those devices. They claimed she gave the devices and granted them access to the devices voluntarily.

Victor Nkhwashu, one of Gigaba’s lawyers said Gigaba became traumatised after she was held back in Brookly police station’s holding cells overnight and has challenged the legality of her arrest.
