In the past 24 hours, one hundred and forty-two more patients have succumbed to COVID-19 in South Africa after contracting the virus. This brings the death toll to 15,641.
The Health Department said in the past 24 hours, 772 new infections have been recorded which takes the total number of cases in the country to more than 651,000.
However, the recovery rate is now at 89.5%, which means that 583,000 people have recovered so far.
