International Travel: Mbalula inspects CT International Airport

The transport Minister on Thursday said he conducted an inspection at Cape Town International Airport.

Fikile Mbalula said the airport together with OR Tambo International Airport and King Shaka International Airport, will open for international travel from 1 October.


He inspected various parts of the airport including the security checkpoints and the immigration area.

The airport staff showed the Mnalula a thermal imaging scanner that has been placed at several entrances to check passengers’ temperatures.

Mbalula emphasised the importance of proper safety measures as the airport is set to accommodate more people.

“The Airports Company South Africa has taken it upon itself to ensure that all regulations are complied with by all travellers,” he said.

However, the minister said regulations and list of nationalities to be allowed into the country would be announced next week.

“There are many [countries]. We are looking at the United States and the region of the Americas,” he said.
