The police have arrested a man from phoenix in KwaZulu-Natal for murder in the early hours of Thursday.
He allegedly murdered his 34-year-old ex-partner and her two-year-old daughter.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly attacked the woman and the toddler with a bush knife at their home.
It is understood that the attack was prompted by a domestic dispute on Wednesday night.
The 34-year-old woman was declared dead on the scene while the two-year-old girl gave up on her way to the hospital.
Police spokesperson Jay Naicker said that the suspect immediately fled the scene after he attacked the two.
“The suspect had allegedly fled into the bushes yesterday and police searched for him throughout the night.”
“He was spotted returning to the house where the murder took place in the early hours of this morning.”
The suspect is in police custody till his court appearance.
