NPA committed to retrieving R255m looted in asbestos project

The NPA it will try its possible best to get back the R255 million spent on the 2014 Free State Asbestos Auditing project.


Evidence tabled at the state capture inquiry has explained how prices increased immensely.

On Wednesday, the Hawks descended on high-ranking officials who were involved in the project.

Hawks apprehended seven officials who are linked with the Free State Asbestos project.

Raids happened in Gauteng, the Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal, with five companies up for questioning.

A search and seizure operation was done at Blackhead Consulting, whose director – Edwin Sodi came before the State Capture Inquiry on Tuesday.

The Special Investigating Unit said since last year, it has been probing into the matter.

A former ANC MP has surrendered himself on Thursday morning to the police.
