Senior KZN official arrested by Hawks in connection with a R20 million tender

A senior official from the Office of Premier Sihle Zikalala has been arrested by Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal.

The senior official was arrested for fraud and corruption in connection with a R20 million catering tender.


Three service providers were also arrested alongside on this case.

The four suspects are prepared to appear in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court on Friday.

According to Hawks KZN spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo the four accused joined the other five who were earlier arrested in July.

The suspects arrested in connection to this case includes Premier Zikalala’s personal assistant Nomusa Zwake, chief financial officer Ziphathe Cibane, admin officers Sithembiso Msomi and Njabulo Makhathini.

Gugu Kheswa, a service provider, was also arrested in the first operatiom,

The nine accused are expected to appear in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court friday.
