Eddie Van Halen dies at 65 after battling cancer



Eddie Van Halen has reportedly being pronounced dead after a long battle with cancer.

Eddie is a legendary guitarist who died at the age of 65 on Tuesday at St John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, US.

The news was made known by his son, Wolfgang on social media

According to news reports, his son Wolfgang, his wife Janie, his ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli and his brother and drummer, Alex, were by his side when he passed on.

Wolfgang said Eddie lost his long and “arduous” battle with cancer on Tuesday morning.

Wolfgang, who is Van Halen’s bassist, posted a pic of his father and captioned it:

“I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning. He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift.”

“My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss. I love you so much, Pop.” 

Many of his fans, celebrities and other musicians have taken to their social media to pay tribute to the legend.
