The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Northern Cape has made an open call to the government to implement workable plans that will put a top to criminal activities in the country.
This call by the opposing party officials is prompted by the recent murder of 40-year-old Leon Brits.
Brits body was found in his swimming pool at his home in Pofadder on Wednesday.
A preliminary investigation further revealed that Brits was brutally stabbed on his chest before he succumbed to the wounds.
The police is yet to arrest any suspect in connection with his murder.
Head of DA Kamiesberg constituency, Veronica van Dyk expressed her concerns on the rising crime rate.
“Just like communities or provinces across the country, the DA is fed up with escalating levels of violent crime in South Africa, and especially the increasingly vicious attacks on people residing in our rural areas.”
“The killing must end today, people in rural areas also have a right to life.”
