Julius Malema said his accuser ought to be the one apologizing because he and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi did nothing wrong.
The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the party MP appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Tuesday for the alleged assault of a police officer.
The alleged assault was carried out during the funeral ceremony of African National Congress (ANC) veteran Winnie Madikizela Mandela in 2018.
According to Malema, he and his co-accused did nothing wrong.
He said they were dragged to court because they only pushed a white man.
He made this known while addressing his supporters who were protesting outside the Randburg Magistrates Court as proceedings were going on.
“The white man called Venter must apologise to us. The presidential protection unit must apologise to us. The VIP protection unit must apologise to us…”
He also blamed black police officers for being to timid to arrest white people.
“[The] police must regain their respect.”
Malema and Ndlozi’s trial was postponed to October 28 because of an application by the media to record the proceedings.
