on

South African celebrities have gone through the most when it’s about being cyber-bullied.

Some became stronger despite the hate and critics, while a few fall into depression and some go as far as being suicidal.

Our focus are on the female celebs who have experienced the worse on social media by being trolled and generally disliked over an issue or the other.

Below are 5 South African female celebs who’ve suffered in the hands of social media bullies:

KELLY KHUMALO

The talented singer’s suffering started the year her ex-lover got murdered in the same space with her. Senzo Meyiwa is a professional SA footballer who died in 2014 and lots of South Africans believe Kelly is responsible for his death, which she refuted, but she’s experienced a lot of hardship which affected her music career at some point as people still seek justice for Senzo’s death till date.

KHANYI MBAU

The multi-talented star got trolled after going through a beauty transformation, which got her from being brown skinned to white-skinned. For over 5 years, she’s got days she trends for her new skin colour, which she defends from time to time.

BABES WODUMO

The singer was one of South African’s favourite, as she was crowned Gqom quuen, not until she had issue with her lover, Mampintsha Mandla, who is the boss of her record label, WestInk. In 2019, a viral video of Mandla abusing Babes by repeatedly slapping her went viral, and the whole industry stood by her, including fans, believing she has left the abusive relationship. However, after months of going back and forth, she returned to dating Mandla and it was a huge slap on the faces of everyone who defended and supported her after been abused.

PEARL THUSI

Pearl is a star actress, but it appears she’s being hated on social media, especially the Twitter street, as her intervention during the xenophobic attack in support of Nigerians, got more hate on her. The actress brags of being a Nigerian despite being South African born, but it’s attracted more trolls on her, as she’s highly defensive of Nigerians.

LADY ZAMAR

Zamar isn’t in a cool space with some social media users, though she’s the least hated amongst the 5 women, but a few things about her got some trolls on her. The singer’s rape  allegation against her former lover, Sjava has been controversial, while her British accent is another reason some social media users aren’t so pleased.
