The police in the Free State has arrested seven people involved in illegal drugs.
These suspects were found in possession of ARV tablets worth R1.9 million.
According to the police, the suspects were caught on their way to the province.
They were apparently coming from Gauteng.
The police found more than 1,200 containers of tablets inside the vehicle the suspects were travelling in on Saturday.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele said the suspects had plans to sell these drugs to potential customers in Welkom.
“Four suspects are from Sebokeng in Vereeniging, one Lesotho foreign national staying in Welkom, one from Phuthaditjhaba and one from Theunissen.”
“All suspects were found – five males and two females aged between 21 and 39 – will be charged with contravention of Medicine Act and will appear in the Kroonstad Magistrates Court soon.”
