Remember the murder case of Wits student, Asthandile ‘Kwasa’ Zozo?
The 22-year-old man accused of Zozo’s murder has gotten himself a new attorney.
This was after the previous one withdrew from the case.
Viwe Rulumeni appeared briefly in the Dutwya Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Mthatha National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Luxolo Tyali said the matter was postponed to 28 October “after the new attorney of record was furnished with the docket contents”.
Rulumeni’s former attorney told the court that he would stop representing him because he knew Zozo’s father “very well” from his school days.
Rulumeni allegedly assaulted and killed Zozo by choking and stabbing her several times.
The incident happened on 17 August 2020.
His actions sparked anger among the members of the public.
Zozo’s family members were shocked at the news of her death saying their daughter was very calm and harmless.
