Shepherd Bushiri, wife arrested for another multi-million laundering scheme

Hawks have arrested the self-proclaimed Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, his wife, Mary, and another couple in connection to money laundering amounting to R102 million.

This is the second time the flashy pastor and his wife will be arrested.

He appeared in court last week on a money laundering case amounting to R15 million.

Ever since Bushiri launched a prosperity charismatic church called the Enlightened Christian Gathering, he had been accused of several scandals.

According to Hawks statement, Bushiri evaded authorities when his wife was arrested at their Sandton home but he later handed himself over at a Pretoria police station.

Hawks spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale said “four suspects including a pastor aged between 25 and 39 were arrested for alleged involvement in fraud and money laundering worth R102 million.”

Hawks indicated that the first couple, Willah Mudolo and Zethu Mudolo, were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday by the serious organised crime investigation.

The couple had appeared before the Pretoria Magistrates Court but their case was postponed to the end of the month for a bail application.
