On Wednesday, the Joburg Infrastructure Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) Mpho Moerane forwarded his condolences to the family of a nine-year-old child who was electrocuted to death.
The young child died instantly after touching exposed power cables in Rabie Ridge last week.
She came in contact with an illegal power connection which runs in the family’s home in the Kinana informal settlement.
The MMC indicated that the City of Johannesburg is working tirelessly on clamping down on illegal connections.
They are also working on ensuring that residents in informal settlements received essential services, including electricity.
