Money laundering case against Prophet Bushiri and wife postponed

The second case against self-proclaimed Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary, will return to court on Friday.

The couple was arrested by Hawks on Tuesday.


They are facing charges of money laundering amounting to R106 million.

Another couple was also arrested in connection to the same allegation.

They appeared in court earlier this week.

The Bushiris alongside another couple, Willah and Zethu Mudolo are accused of allegedly defrauding investors of over R106 million. through a false investment scheme.

Bushiri and his wife appeared in Pretoria Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Their supporters were seen outside the court calling for justice to prevail.

Hawks said the man whom his followers call “the major one”, handed himself over to the authorities after evading them during his wife’s arrest at their Sandton home.

They will return to the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Friday.

The Mudolos are expected to apply for bail later this month.
