President Buhari confirms 69 lives were lost during the #EndSARS protests

The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari made it known that at least 69 people died during the protests tagged #EndSars.

The protests were anchored by Nigerian youths seeking for the disbandment of a notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars) and police reform.


The protest had its grounds all around the country for two weeks.

Buhari disclosed that 51 civilians, 11 police officers and 7 soldiers died during the protests.

The president made this known during an emergency meeting with former leaders.

He said he is looking for ways to put an end to the ongoing unrest in the country.

He also indicated that 205 critical national infrastructure and other corporate private properties across 14 states including Lagos were attacked by hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful protest..

The president said after disbanding the notorious Sars, the protesting youths added more to their demands which includes an immediate release of all arrested protesters.

He expressed is displeasure at the fact that the initial genuine and well-intended protest of the youths in parts of the country against Sars was hijacked and misdirected.

He said government will not fold its arms and allow criminals to continue to perpetrate these acts of hooliganism.
