On Saturday, the police disclosed that it would be on high alert so as to put an end to those who continue to sell electricity illegally.
The latest person to be arrested for selling electricity illegally is a woman from Eastern Cape.
She was arrested for selling power worth R300,000.
According to reports, the woman has been running this illegal operation since 2018.
In return, she offers her clients a bargain.
The EC woman appeared in the King Williams Town Magistrates Court on Friday.
The case against her was postponed to the last Friday.
The police spokesperson, Khaya Tonjeni said:
“It is further alleged that the accused has clients as far as the Western Cape and is working for a syndicate based in Gauteng.
“Investigations continue and more arrests are imminent.”
“The case was postponed to 30 October 2020 for a formal bail application and the suspect has been remanded in custody.”
