Pearl Thusi has taken to her social media to lend her voice on the issue of gender-based violence in South Africa.
In her words, she is urging others to join their voices to fight this issue.
Pearl told her followers to sign a petition that would force action to trigger the governments.
However, Pearl is not the only South African celebrity to talk on this issue but their cries falls on deaf ears.
She said: “Parliament needs to address gender-based violence in South Africa – Sign the petition! http://chng.it/zYVmbbzL via @Change.”

The government has allegedly gone quiet on the matter and the women of Mzansi are suffering as a result
Social media users expressed their frustrations and thanked Pearl for speaking up.
Some went ahead to let their voices heard through the comment section as they share how angry they are as the government lack of urgency on making strides to protect women and stop the offenders

Police need to have specialized Gender based violence unit just like specialized gang unit. This unit must provide weekly reports on Gender based violence cases detailing progress and the reasons for delay. There needs to be a public database of all active cases
