Two police commanders were reportedly arrested on gun law charges.
They were arrested along with controversial businessman Nafiz Modack.
They are expected to appear before the Nelspruit Regional Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Bongo is already facing corruption charges in the Western Cape.
He spoke to in an exclusive interview and said the indictment against him was an effort to discredit him.
