Two members of the brigade arrested in Gauteng for gun licence fraud, corruption

Police said 28 people were apprehended in connection with the case and 17 of them were police officers

Two police station commanders were arrested in Gauteng on suspicion of fraud and corruption of firearms licenses.


The National Police Commissioner’s office revealed that members of the Western Cape anti-gang unit, who were assisted by the National Anti-Corruption Unit, had apprehended members of the brigade.

Police said 28 people were apprehended in connection with the case.

Seventeen of them were police officers.

The investigations began three years ago when it came into light that security companies partook in extortion in the Western Cape related to firearm applications in Gauteng.
