Two taxi patrollers shot in Douglasdale

Police said the two patrollers from Randburg United Local and Long Distance Taxi Association were ambushed by two unknown gunmen.

Two taxi patrols were gunned down on Friday near the taxi rank at Fourways Mall, Gauteng police said.

Police spokesman Captain Mavela Masondo said the two Randburg United Local and Long Distance Taxi Association (Rulldta) patrollers were ambushed by two unidentified gunmen.


Masondo said the suspects rained fire and sped off from the scene.

A 44-year-old man was shot and killed while a colleague of his was injured and taken to hospital.

The shooting took place at the corner of Fourways Boulevard and Percy Street at around 7:40 am.

The reason for the shooting is unknown.
