Relationships can be slightly ambiguous at times, especially when the person you love ignores you for reasons you weren’t even aware of.
We’ve all gone through a phase, where we have experienced uncertainty and confusion and dealt with insecurity, especially when our loved ones ignored us.
As much as you try to avoid such a situation, you might end up causing more damage to your relationship.
In these times of crisis, you might either want to cut all ties with such a person or you may land up flooding their phones with texts and calls, until you get a response.
While both these solutions may seem viable to you at a certain point of time, it is highly discouraged. However, here are 7 things you can and should do when the person you love ignores you:
1. Make sure it is not a false alarm
Many a times, when you feel like someone is ignoring you, it can be a false alarm. May be it’s all in your head. May be you’re just insecure about the person you love, which in turn makes you believe they’re ignoring you. So, first and foremost, it is crucial that you make sure they’re actually ignoring you.
2. Find out the reason
If, in fact, someone is ignoring you, then you need to find out why. Everything in this world happens for a cause and if your partner or the person you like is ignoring you, then there has to be a good reason behind that. The best way to find out is to look back on the things that you might have done wrong, things, that you thought would not make a difference, but it did.
3. Do not overreact
When you’re being ignored, do not get impulsive and make rash decisions. You might feel wronged and dejected, but it is best to keep your calm and avoid any overreaction in the heat of the moment. You must understand that ignorance is temporary, but what you say or do can scar you forever.
4. Give them their space
Once you know that a person is ignoring you, there’s no reason for you to outpour them with messages and phone calls. It’s natural to want to seek explanations for their actions or to want to understand the root of all the problem, but sometimes you just need to give them their space and some time to calm down.
5. Don’t let it bother you too much
When someone you like ignores you, you’re more likely to be stressed and anxious. Although you cannot avoid such situations, you can surely overcome them. Instead of continuously thinking about it, you can invest your time in your favorite hobbies or may be something that is productive. Keep yourself occupied until it’s time to clear the air of ignorance.
6. Discuss it
The best way to sort any issue is through discussion. Not through a text, nor a phone-call, but a mature and proper face-to-face conversation. As intimidating as it may be, you must take this step to clear any misunderstanding or misconceptions that might have lead to the problems between you two.
7. Apologize, if you have made a mistake
Once you know where it all went wrong, you should reconcile. If it was your fault, then it is always wise to apologize and make your peace with them. Sometimes, an apology is all you need to sort out the worst of matters.
