South Africans woke up to Amapiano genre trending on social media, this Wednesday morning.
The genre has been sizzling since 2020 with amazing songs, and it’s gained a ground in Nigeria.
Mzansi is however amazed at how Nigerian musicians have come to act like the genre sprung from them. Though some persons are unbothered.
However, it’s been observed that some persons are calling the genre Nigerian Amapiano or Omopiano, and South Africans are not pleased.
“Guys there’s absolutely no need for “Nigerian amapiano” or calling it omopiano. Amapiano is amapiano please. Our west African brothers and sisters don’t have to claim everything abeg. You will never hear South Africa afrobeat or Zimbabwean afrobeat,” a South African said.
Because I said omopiano, they said we like to steal their stuff.
