Did you know that honey is one of the most effective natural hair conditioners? Or that when you run out of face wash, you can use it to refresh your skin?

Dig out ancient home remedies for beauty and you are sure to come across honey as one of the main ingredients.

It is known for its antibacterial, antioxidant and moisturising properties; and has therefore been in use for ages to treat acne, pimples, suntan, dry skin, dull hair and frizz problems.

The best thing about honey is that you can use it as it is to get amazing results. But if you do have the time, add it with few more miraculous ingredients to pamper your hair and skin.

Wondering how to get started? We bring you easy DIY beauty remedies:

1. Hair conditioner

Raw honey works like a charm to bring life to dull hair, thanks to the active enzymes that are present in it. After you shampoo your hair, apply honey from the root to the tip and let it sit for three to four minutes, if not more, before rinsing with lukewarm water. You will immediately see the result. You can also mix it with a little coconut oil and apply on your hair before shampooing to tame frizzy hair.

2. Face cleanser

For a clean and smooth skin, take one tablespoon of honey and mix it with equal portion of jojoba oil and a pinch of turmeric powder. Using a cotton swab, apply it generously on your face to clean the pores. Wash immediately. Jojoba oil is known for its moisturising property whereas turmeric is a great antibacterial besides adding glow to your skin.

3. Getting rid of acne and blemishes

Acnes are nasty and horrible to deal with. Using honey may just make your life easier because it has powerful anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and healing properties. All you need to do is dedicatedly apply a dab of raw honey in the affected area daily to see results. Mixing it with tea tree oil could also help.

4. Treating sunburn

Have a terrible sunburn? Turn to honey and aloe vera to bring relief to your skin and let it heal naturally. Mix one part raw honey with two parts aloe vera gel and apply it on your skin. Other than being a great anti-inflammatory agent, honey is also known for its deep hydrating properties.
