5 Shona Ferguson’s most memorable TV roles

Shona Ferguson’s death brought sadness to the faces of so many and South Africans are still heart broken.


The actor passed away due to COVID-19 related complications at the age of 47 on Friday, 30 July.

However, many of his fans and other celebrities have taken to their social media to pay tribute to the actor.

Shona was fondly known for many popular roles on South African soapies and series.

The actor and his wife, veteran actress Connie Ferguson established their own TV production company together called Ferguson Films in 2010 which serves as the production house to popular soapies Rockville and The Queen.

Let’s take a look at some of the movies he had featured in during the years.

DR LEABUA ON ‘MUVHANGO’

Ferguson’s earliest role dates back to 2006 when he played Dr Leabua in the SABC 2 soapie Muvhango.

ITUMELENG TLADI ON ‘THE WILD’

In 2011, he played Itumeleng Tladi on the daily M-Net soapie The Wild where he starred alongside his wife.

JB ON ‘ROCKVILLE’
Shona and Connie starred together in Mzansi Magic’s hitshow Rockville where he played the role of Jackson “JB” Bogatsu. The soapie is produced by Ferguson Films.

ROBOCOP ON ‘THE QUEEN’

Ferguson played Jerry Maake also known as “Robocop” on The Queen who was the arch rival to his wife Connie, who played Harriet Khoza. He later exited as a cast member on the series but he and Connie served as executive producers.

SIMON ‘VADER’ MASIRE ON ‘KINGS OF JO’BURG’

In 2020 the legendary actor played the role of Simon “Vader” Masire on Netflix’s Kings of Jo’Burg.
