First impressions and first dates are always matters of nervousness.
They can reel up thoughts about whether you’re dressing up nice, smelling good or if your speaking skills are well enough to strike a good conversation. After all, first dates set the precedent for the next dates to come.
And so, it’s necessary to avoid any unnecessary problems on a first date. In account of this, here are the things you should never do on a first date.
1. Don’t talk about the past
It’s not a good idea to dig up your date’s past. Even if you’re knee-deep into a conversation, don’t mention any past relationships of your own or any ex problems. Try getting to know about the person’s interests and likes and woo them romantically.
2. Don’t ever be late
Believe it or not, punctuality is attractive. It’s important that you leave your home at least some time ago so that you don’t end up being late to your date. You can turn up early and keep some snacks or drinks ready on the table to put up a good impression.
3. Don’t use your phone
Using your phone on your date is a terrible idea. Don’t deny it; you would feel irritated seeing your date answer continuous calls or texts and vice versa. You should give time to only that person during the date and not let distractions bother you.
4. Don’t control any conversations
Don’t make it all about yourself. Listen to your date partner about what they have to say. Ask them about their hobbies, likes and dislikes and just enjoy the time. Avoid talking about serious matters like marriage, children, settling down etc.
5. Don’t overindulge
Avoid drinking up too much on the first date because it will make you lose control and be sloppy. It’s better to show the organised part of you on the date rather than displaying all your messy habits at once. And with time or if there’s a second date, you can be more carefree than before.
